Why Preserve VMI’s Legacy?
Increased funding will preserve the VMI heritage, supporting the operation and maintenance of the Institute’s historic buildings and the important work of VMI’s museum system. Each year more than 80,000 visitors are exposed to VMI’s rich history during a visit to our museums.
VMI Museum
Continued preservation and interpretation of the more than 15,000 artifacts in the VMI Museum allows the heritage of VMI to be displayed and preserved.
New Market Battlefield
The Battle of New Market is the Institute’s proudest moment, and the New Market cadets provide an example against which today’s cadets measure themselves. Gifts to the New Market Battlefield improve how the story of the battle and of the cadets’ courage, determination and sacrifice are told.
Stonewall Jackson House
The Stonewall Jackson House relies strictly on private contributions to preserve the house and its collections and to educate the public about the life and service of Thomas “Stonewall” Jackson.
