With the Southern Conference releasing its 2020-21 basketball schedule Oct. 20, the VMI league slate has also been revealed. SoCon action will begin Wednesday, Dec. 30, and will feature two contests per school per week until wrapping up Saturday, Feb. 27. The non-conference schedule was announced Nov. 14, and play begins Nov. 25 against St. Andrews.
The SoCon’s 10 men’s basketball teams will all play double-round-robin, 18-game intraleague schedules, totaling 90 league contests. Due to coronavirus concerns, schools have been given the latitude to change game dates with the approval of both programs’ directors of athletics and the conference office. The Keydets tip off conference play at Samford Dec. 30 before playing their first league home game Saturday, Jan. 2, versus Chattanooga.
For the final week of the regular season, VMI will play host to East Tennessee State University Feb. 24 before traveling to Chattanooga Feb. 27. The Ingles SoCon Basketball Championships presented by General Shale will be contested March 5-8 in Asheville, North Carolina.
