Thank you to those alumni who participated in the election for the VMI Alumni Association Board of Directors. Simply Voting received 1,067 ballots cast.
In accordance with the bylaws of the VMI Alumni Association, the following individuals have received the requisite majority of votes to serve as regional directors:
- Richard Coupland ’91—Regional director for Region I, to serve for a term ending June 30, 2027 (reappointment)
- Pat Griffin ’80—Regional director for Region VIII, to serve for a term ending June 30, 2027 (reappointment)
- Garland Gray III ’10—Regional director for Region XII, to serve for a term ending June 30, 2027 (reappointment)
- Wyatt Durrette ’61—Regional director for Region XIII, to serve for a term ending June 30, 2027
- William Collier ’06—Regional director for Region XIV, to serve for a term ending June 30, 2027 (reappointment)
In accordance with the bylaws of the VMI Alumni Association, the following individuals have received the requisite majority of votes to serve as at-large directors:
- Adrian Garcia ’87—At-large director to serve for a term ending June 30, 2025
- William Shannon ’10—At-large director to serve for a term ending June 30, 2027 (reappointment)
- Chuck Story ’91—At-large director to serve for a term ending June 30, 2027 (reappointment)

We greatly appreciate our alumni for submitting outstanding nominees and the nominating committee for the process they undertook to arrive at this slate. This process was conducted in accordance with the Resolution and Policies for the Nomination and Election of the Board of Directors of the VMI Alumni Association. This nominating process has not changed for more than 40 years, and this structure has served us well.
