Cadet Isabel French ’20 was voted the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference women’s water polo pre-season Goalie of the Year in a poll of league coaches released Jan. 10, 2019. The Keydets were picked to finish fourth in the eight-team conference, with five-time defending champion Wagner College taking the top spot. French is coming off a fantastic 3rd Class campaign in which she led the league and registered a program-record 306 saves and already owns the school’s career top mark with 592 stops. She earned second-team All-MAAC honors in 2018 after taking home the league’s Rookie of the Year Award her first year at VMI. The Naperville, Illinois, native tied the program record for saves in a single match with 22 against St. Francis Brooklyn on March 11.
The Keydets finished 20-12 last year with an 8-6 mark in conference play.
