On Nov. 11, 2019, Founders Day, VMI celebrated 180 years of training citizen-soldiers to lead at home and abroad. During the Founders Day parade, the Cadet Battery fired the VMI howitzers in a 17-gun salute. The day culminated with the Institute Society Dinner, which was held in Marshall Hall and celebrates a segment of VMI alumni, family and friends who step forward in a significant way to support VMI through unrestricted gifts. Their level of contribution distinguishes them as Institute Society members.
