Competing against some of the top sprinters in the country, Eleyah Armstrong ’25 completed her 2024 outdoor season in the 100-meter dash at the NCAA Track and Field East Preliminaries hosted by the University of Kentucky in Lexington, Kentucky, May 23. The Hampton, Virginia, native competed in the sixth and final heat of the event and came in seventh place in her group in 11.80 seconds, which resulted in 46th place overall for the event.
Kaila Jackson of Georgia finished first overall with a facility record time of 10.95 seconds, just ahead of McKenzie Long of the University of Mississippi in second in 11.02 seconds.
Armstrong qualified for nationals by way of her 11.35 time at the SoCon Outdoor Championships in May, which was both a meet and school record time, as she placed first overall as the SoCon champion. She also helped the 4×100 relay squad to All-Conference honors at the meet. On the opening day of the SoCon meet, she earned All-SoCon honors in the long jump with a third-place distance of 5.74 meters.
During the 2024 indoor season, she won both the 60-meter dash and the long jump at the SoCon Indoor Championships, which highlights some of her many accomplishments in the past 6 months of competition.
