The VMI Alumni Agencies is excited to announce the acceptance of cryptocurrency. Given the rise in value and popularity of cryptocurrencies—like Bitcoin—the Agencies chose to diversify its revenue streams by accepting crypto donations.
Crypto philanthropy is a new and exciting fundraising avenue for nonprofit organizations. With more than 220 million crypto users worldwide and the value of many cryptocurrencies rising, the crypto community is in a position to make a wide-reaching impact through philanthropy. Donating crypto is also one of the most tax-efficient ways for individuals to support causes that matter to them.
The Agencies is also excited to announce that we will be participating in #CryptoGiving Tuesday, Nov. 30. Similar to Giving Tuesday, which falls on the same day, #CryptoGiving Tuesday helps organizations promote their causes to potential supporters—in this case, the donations come in cryptocurrency, rather than cash, credit card, or check.
Patti Cook, director of annual and reunion giving, explains, “The decision to pursue accepting gifts of cryptocurrency was sparked by questions from some of VMI’s most loyal supporters. This initiative pairs the convenience for our donors with the needs of the Institute and keeps VMI on the cutting edge of giving capabilities.”
The Giving Block, our partner in providing technological solutions and support to charities that want to accept cryptocurrency donations, will be joining our fundraising efforts on #CryptoGiving Tuesday. Supporters can donate crypto directly on our website or via The Giving Block website.
