Annual giving – the steady and loyal generosity of those who support the Institute through unrestricted philanthropy – is the greatest demonstration of confidence and trust in the senior leadership of VMI.
The VMI Keydet Club chief operating officer provides oversight of programs and staff to ensure they meet the goals and objectives of the club’s strategic plan, supports the president of the VMI Keydet Club Board of Governors and is responsible for the formulation of the policies, goals, objectives, and procedures of the Keydet Club. The COO works closely with VMI leadership, VMI athletics, the CFO and across the VMI Alumni Agencies to develop and execute programs consistent with the missions of VMI and the Keydet Club. The COO reports to the VMI Alumni Agencies CEO.
Additionally, as the chief development officer, he is responsible for the comprehensive planning, implementation, management, and oversight of all fundraising.
The development officer reports to the chief development officer and the primary responsibility is to monitor, track, analyze and cultivate leadership donors as part of the Annual Giving program.
The strategic operations officer aids in providing planning and oversight for the Annual Giving effort with a goal to maximize software and analytic tools to fundraise across multiple channels, leading to growth in the alumni donor base in support of VMI. This individual oversees cadet philanthropy activities and the annual class efforts focused on the first 15 years out from graduation.
The prospect strategy and research officer provides support in evaluating the pool of potential and current donors and identifying strategies to maximize growth. The officer uses software and analytical tools to provide segmentation strategies for annual solicitation programs, as well as major gift and planned giving areas.
