The 2021-22 VMI basketball schedule is here. The Keydets are scheduled to play 31 regular-season games and open the season Tuesday, Nov. 9, against Carlow in Lexington. Thirteen home games are slated at Cameron Hall, including a New Year’s Day clash against Furman in the Southern Conference opener.
The road schedule features a multiteam event in New Orleans over Thanksgiving week, including VMI, Presbyterian College, Central Arkansas, and host University of New Orleans. VMI travels to the West Coast the following week to play the University of Portland Dec. 3 and Seattle University Dec. 5.
VMI will also take on ACC opponent Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, Tuesday, Dec. 14, in the first meeting since the 2013-14 campaign.
The Keydets are looking to build on last season’s success when they went 13-12 to post their first winning season since 2013-14. VMI went 11-1 at Cameron Hall and advanced to the SoCon tournament semifinals for the first time since 2003. Dan Earl, head coach, was named SoCon Coach of the Year.
